FAQs

Our Office

What will my first visit look like?

Your first visit will last about 45 minutes. We will come to you and set up our equipment. Then we start with some paperwork, including our privacy and financial policies. We will review your intake form, talking about your complaints, your health history, and your current lifestyle factors. From there, we do an exam focused on your problems, which will give us some more insight into the best approach to treatment. After this, we will discuss your treatment plan and options, then dive into our first treatment if there is nothing indicating that we shouldn’t.

How can I schedule?

There are four ways to schedule your visit:

  1. Schedule online

  2. Text us at (763) 373-9710

  3. Call us at (763) 373-9710

  4. Email us at northboundchiro@gmail.com

How soon can I get in?

We typically have same-day and next-day appointments available, so you can get in as soon as you like! If scheduling a same-day appointment, we prefer a text or phone call if possible.

How does a follow-up visit work?

After your new patient appointment, your next visits will be shorter, lasting either 15 or 30 minutes, depending on what kind of treatments you will require. With these visits, I will come to you and set up my table, just like with the new patient visit. We’ll discuss how your last visit went and anything new or different with you. Then you’ll hop on the table, perform the necessary treatments, and we’re done! Easy, straightforward, and convenient.

Chiropractic

Is chiropractic safe?

Chiropractic is both safe and effective. During our first appointment, we screen for red flags, conditions or symptoms that would suggest that we shouldn’t adjust you. If we do find a red flag or another concern, we will refer you to another provider or for medical imaging. We will not adjust you unless we are confident that it is safe to do so.

The most common adverse effect of chiropractic treatment is soreness, which generally lasts less than 24 hours. The media also suggests that chiropractic adjustments cause strokes, though the current research does not support this. There is no evidence that chiropractic adjustments cause strokes and suggests a risk of 1 in 1-5 million.

One of the best examples of the safety of chiropractic care comes in when looking at our malpractice insurance. Malpractice insurance companies have a large financial stake in our practices, so they charge according to the risk of a malpractice incident or serious complication occurring. Chiropractic malpractice insurance generally costs around $1500 per year, while a medical doctor will pay anywhere from $4000 per year for a general family practice physician, up to $50,000 per year for surgeons.

My friend told me that I need to keep coming back after seeing a chiropractor. Is that true?

This is typically not the case for most patients. At Northbound Chiropractic, we keep our treatment plans as focused and as brief as possible, re-evaluating your progress consistently on the way.

What is an adjustment anyway?

A chiropractic adjustment is applying force into a joint to restore proper motion and provide neurological and proprioceptive stimulation. There is often a popping sound or crack with an adjustment, which is due to the release of gas bubbles that form in your joints, though this sound has nothing to do with how effective an adjustment is.

Financial Questions

Do you accept my insurance?

Northbound Chiropractic is a direct-pay clinic, meaning that we do not accept any insurance, except Original Medicare. This allows us to provide you the care you need, affordably and at the highest possible quality. That said, we can print you a superbill that you can then submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Why don’t you accept my insurance?

Insurance companies often limit the number of visits and the services we are able to provide. This is more often done to serve them and their financial interests than you, the patient. By not accepting insurance, we can ensure that we are giving you the care you deserve, at a price that is often just as affordable as if you used your insurance coverage.

When is my payment due?

Payment is due at the time of service, unless other arrangements are made beforehand.

What are your prices?

For pricing information, please contact us. Each individual is in a unique situation and has different health, wellness, and performance needs.

Functional Medicine and Nutrition

What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine can mean different things to different people, but here at Northbound Chiropractic, it means looking for the root cause of your health issues by evaluating a variety of systems, including your gastrointestinal health, your brain function, and your immune function. By addressing the root cause and not just the symptoms, we look to create lasting changes in your body and your life.

What does a functional medicine treatment plan consist of?

A functional medicine treatment plan will include recommendations about diet, nutritional supplementation, exercise or physical activity, and other lifestyle changes. Each treatment plan is individualized to your specific needs.
